Brimming with superb restaurants, boutique shops, fabulous activities and spectacular beaches, Plettenberg Bay is the ideal holiday getaway.
There is a wide range of excellent restaurants from French style patisseries to slick pan-Asian food. At Enrico’s at Keurbooms you can have simple fish dishes, salads and wood-fire pizzas, Bramon Vineyard provides popular picnic-style lunches set in the vineyard and for exquisite modern South African food Nguni is always good. There are numerous other culinary treats in and around Plett to tempt holiday makers. Wine lovers are well catered for too.
If you want an action packed holiday then you will love Plettenberg. Fishing, boating, scuba diving, golfing, polo, riding, tennis, gliding, abseiling, birdwatching, mountain biking and bungi jumping are all available in or near Plett.
If you prefer a less energetic holiday but want to explore you could drive out to Old Nick Village (www.oldnickvillage.co.za) to shop for local crafts or take a whale and dolphin spotting excursion and see more of the spectacular coastline (www.oceansafaris.co.za). The Elephant Sanctuary (www.elephantsanctuary.co.za) offers close encounters with rescued elephants. Springtide Charters (www.springtidesailing.com) organises sunset cruises on a 50ft yacht from Knysna Lagoon. If you take a short drive out to The Crags (www.cruisethecrags.co.za) you will need more than a day to appreciate Monkeyland, the Snake Sanctuary, a mohair factory shop, Tenikwa – a cat sanctuary and Birds of Eden.
Alternatively you may want to do absolutely nothing apart from enjoy the sunshine, the beaches and a good book.
